Product Name: ethyl 2-[[(2S)-1-(2-phenylacetyl)pyrrolidine-2-carbonyl]amino]acetate
Synonyms: ethyl 2-[[(2S)-1-(2-phenylacetyl)pyrrolidine-2-carbonyl]amino]acetate;N-(1-(Phenylacetyl)-L-prolyl)glycine ethyl ester;Noopept;(S)-ethyl 2-(1-(2-phenylacetyl)pyrrolidine-2-carboxaMido)acetate;SGS 111;SGS111;SGS-111;1-(2-Phenylacetyl)-L-prolylglycine Ethyl Ester
Noopept is the brand name for N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester , a synthetic Nootropic molecule. Noopept (GVS-111) is a peptide promoted and prescribed in many countries as a nootropic with neuroprotective properties.
Noopept has a much lower standard dose than piracetam (10-30mg, compared to 4800mg), and it provides a general neuroprotective effect after supplementation. This neuroprotective effect occurs during various states of cognitive trauma, including oxidative stress and physical trauma. More studies are needed to determine the main mechanisms responsible for Noopept's neuroprotective effect.
The only human study comparing Noopept and piracetam suggests the two have a comparable effect, once the smaller effective dose is taken into account.
Noopept has a similar effect to Piracetam, in that it provides a mild cognitive boost after supplementation. Noopept also provides a subtle psychostimulatory effect.
It is one of the newer nootropics, and is very popular because of its ease of use, small dosage size and subtle effects. Its mechanism of action suggests possible applications for treating conditions of brain trauma or cognitive degeneration like Alzheimer's. At this time, there are no known side effects from acute usage, and no known toxicity.
It is growing in popularity due to its effectiveness as a cognitive enhancing compound and because its active dose range is between 10 and 30 mg, which is much lower than compounds that offer similar effects such as the racetams. When compared to the traditional racetams, noopept has been found to be, according to studies, 1000 times more potent than the prototypical racetam drug, piracetam.
To supplement noopept, one should take 10 - 30 mg once a day for up to 56 days at a time with extended breaks in between each period of usage.
As a peptide, the oral bioavailability is very low. Insufflation and sublingual administration are sometimes preferred because its absolute bioaccessibility is on average 10%.
