Product introduction:
Melanotan (MT)-II is a synthetic melanocortin receptor agonist. It is an injectable polypeptide hormone that promotes tanning.
Short term side effects after administration include:
1. Facial flushing
2. Reduced appetite, nausea and vomiting
3. In males, spontaneous 1-5 hours after administration, associated with yawning and stretching complex
Long term, there is concern that melanotan II may increase the risk of:
1. Melanoma – a potentially serious form of skin cancer
2. Deepening of the color of moles, new moles and atypical melanocytic naevi
3. Melanonychia – brown to black discoloration of one or more nails
Suggested usage: daily for 1 - 2 weeks then one to two times weekly for maintenance.
