The product is transformed into 5α dihydrotestosterone (5α-dihyrotesterone) in vivo, and then binds to cell receptor, enters the nucleus, interacts with chromatin, activates RNA polymerase, promotes protein synthesis and cell metabolism. About 6% of the unbound form of the product is excreted by bile, a small portion of which can still be reabsorbed to form the enterohepatic circulation.
